  Course, Started in 1990 and degree awarded by Sardar Patel University.

M.Sc. Industrial chemistry is a two-year full time programme designed to cater to the diverse needs of various chemical industries.

The programme comprises of pure and applied level courses in all functional areas of chemistry and chemical engineering so as to identify and evaluate feasible strategies for solving technical problems. All the courses offered during the two years duration have three hours of classroom sessions per week for theory papers and six hours of laboratory sessions per week for practical subjects.

The department aims to attain a high level of performance and recognition in the postgraduate programme through both internal competence as well as external networking with industries and service organizations. The curriculum and the course work at M.Sc. Industrial chemistry programme have been carefully designed with the help of expert faculties and industrialists, to provide relevant knowledge, skills and attitudinal components in each subject. Experts from industry are regularly invited as visiting and guest faculty to supplement the inputs provided by the core faculty.

In order to motivate students for better performance, institute provides an opportunity to interact with professionals through various workshops and seminars. Industrial visits are a regular feature of the department.

After the completion of the first year, six weeks in plant training is a pre requisite for admission to the second year of the course. Students should also submit a write up and deliver a seminar on in plant training.

Students are regularly given selected topics relevant to the subjects and are required to submit write up and deliver seminar on the given subjects.

A project report based on literature survey and laboratory work conducted on topics related to chemical engineering or pure and applied chemistry is also to be submitted and presented as a seminar by each student.

The department evaluates the student by continuous assessment through classroom test, quizzes, home assignments and external examinations.
